How many blown SHO owners are running a lightning MAF? Are most of you guys running a mark 8 80mm?

All the blowers come from SHO Shop with the Lincoln 80mm... However, it is not enough for a car running boost above ~6 psi. Once the MAF is pegged it is no longer of any use (which is why you should go bigger in the first place).

The lightning 80mm is the same housing as the Mark VIII, but can sense more airflow (1170 kg/hr vs. 1550 Kg/hr). This is the MAF that Josh T runs in his car - and he is just barely ******* it making ~470 at the wheels, last I heard. This MAF would be perfect. The 90mm uses different size piping and would probably be a little too big to have good low-end sensitivity.

I am using the 80mm Lincoln, but will be putting my 90mm Lightning on when I get Tweec'd (can't wait for that refund to come!!!). Tuning is vastly important. I am fully expecting 30+whp with a proper tune, not to mention better fuel economy and driveability.

What about using a pro-m maf? Like the 75 mm? Can't they tune those for blown cars?

They can - but you have to tell them how you want it programmed. The 75mm MAF is not really that accurate compared to the Ford OEM MAFs, however. Pro-M's quality control has gone significantly downhill lately, I would not recommend using one.

I recently bought a Lightning 90 MAF and the adapter but was not able to get tuned last week so it is sitting here. I am definitly replacing it when I go to tune later this month/next month.

I was never really that impresed with the 75mm or bulit MAFs they are sometimes called. They are basicly a piece of pipe with a hot-wire and sensor bolted to them. The 77mm is a much better unit in all respects. ALot of guys running Fox body 'stangs use the 77mm in boosted applications. I love mine, couldn't be happier. It is a bit pricey though.

I've tried a few options, including the Mark 8 80mm which comes with the SHO shop kit and also the Pro-M 80 with 42#/hr calibration (for 8 cylinder, which corresponds to a 56#/hr calibration for a 6 cylinder). It measures up to 1800 kg/hr of air which is plenty for a supercharged SHO.

The Mark 8 80mm is to small pegs the signal, especially for the low altitude SHO's. I'm actually pretty amazed the SHO's can run as well as they do with this. But then again, maybe they don't! ;)

The Pro-M 80 has turned out to be a bit if a dissapointment. At low air flow (idle), it does not do a very good job at all and makes for a lousy idle. I've also seen a fair amount of signal instability at high flow that I have not been able to figure out why.

So... I'm back to the Mark 8 80mm for now.

The Lightning 80 seems like the best choice, but I can't speak from experience.
