When you remove the intake manifold, do you have to bleed the coolant? I noticed that you have to remove certain coolant hoses... thanks.

Jimmy,

Yes, you have to drain a few quarts of coolant from the radiator (the easiest way) before you remove the intake manifold and plennum. There are three (I think) small hoses that carry coolant arround the throttle body.

There is a 14mm vacuum hose that connects to the throttle body, and runs into the center of the valley (between the heads). This would be a good time to change that hose if it needs it. It is a pre-formed hose, but it is straight enough that it can be replaced with "bulk" hose (9/16" or 14mm).

One of the small hoses is "S" shaped, i.e. pre-formed, and can be obtained from SHO-NUT, or Fordpartsonline. The other hoses are straight enough to be replaced with "bulk" hose. LOL rangerj

If you are careful, you can remove and reinstall the intake without disconnecting the coolant lines to the throttle body. I've done it several times.

Some of the hoses may get stretched, so be very careful.

Yes,you can pull the throttle body far enough out of the way that it`s lines don`t need to be disconnected.
