Well.... Got the news that My lead content is a bit high.... Universal Average is 6... while mine read at 15.... not too happy about that, but otherwise it turned out pretty good....
other than a bit of fuel dilusion, and the lead content.... it was good looking for the miles....

So.... Should I consider replacing some bearings soon.... my guess would be the Main or Rod bearings???

Your fuel is dilusional? What, does it think that it's a racing fuel or something? Just messin with you.

Is the lead from the bearing coating (bearings are made of bronze still, I believe, and coated with a lead impregnated compound) or from some leaded AV gas or race gas?

well here's what they said....

KEVIN: Lead was the only wear metal significantly out of line. It is important because it is mainly from
the bearings and is something to watch in future samples. We also found a lot of fuel dilution in the
oil. If this engine sees a lot of idle time, or is mainly a city driver, these results could be normal, else
we think the fuel may be a problem and could be causing some of the extra bearing wear. Nothing
else too unusual showed up. The TBN was 2.1, which is mildly low. Universal averages show normal
wear from this engine after 4,500 miles. Check back in 3,000 to monitor.

Kevin,

Can you post the full report. Saying you have iron problems at 15 parts per million is a somwhat deceiving. Generally speaking anything at 10 parts or below , is considered trace amounts. If the iron content continues to rise after a few oil samples (Testing at same milage intervals) would then indicate something is wearing. If we see the full report , we can evaluate the sample more. Kevin,

I will read the report after I get back. I'm leaving now to find my dog at the hunting camp, I could not find him last night after running him. :squint: Mike

I'd do another analysis in 3k just to see if this is a one time thing or a trend. Lead, iron and insoluables are high and a fuel injected engine should never have any fuel in the oil. If the fuel dilution shows up again then your car is running very rich or you have a leaking fuel injector.

yeah I know I'm gonna do at least another test, Like I said.... I had abotu 3000 miles on that oil change, THEN I did the 60k... and drove it for about another 200 miles and then i did the oil change and took a sample.

SO considering I had the whole thing taken apart, my hands, the air, tools, what ever might have fallen in that i didn't get, Berryman's, all was in there. SO i'll use this as a refrence...
Also, I picked up 2 bottles of Auto RX, I'm guessing I Should wait untill after this oil change to do that, as so I can get a good result on this test to go by... no?

The Auto-RX is good stuff.

But quite frankly the V6 rod bearing change is so easy and relatively cheap I would consider it a 120k maintenance item.

I get the just of rod bearings... and it isn't too hard to do with the engine in the car is it? To my understanding the Y-pipe and iol pan are the hardest parts to do.... uhg... more work for the car

TOB Clutch things.... Powersteering pump... Pass side Half Shaft.... Subframe bushings.... now possibly Rod bearings.... ugh...
