Anyone know a good way to black out the tail lights? I'd like the look but I really can't think of too many ways. Was gonna buy that worthless spray on window tint then clearcoat it but its not sold anymore lol...anyone else?

Search for Vans brake light spray you'll find many colors including smoked/black color, its also about $15 a can.

My bud bought some for his Max when he bought clear tails then used the red tint for the inside of the housing and made his own pattern(bottom red brake, top clear reverse/turn signal).

Yeah, I got the stuff from Summit Racing-Nightshades I think it's called. The good thing is you can make it as dark or as light as you want. The bad thing is, it's not easily removable.
Here's what mine looks like with about 3 light coats.

ive used niteshades on mine too and the good thing about them is that i put on like 5-6 coats and its really dark but the light shines through like theyre stock. better than getting pulled over with blackouts. the only downside is i couldnt get them to be shiny. anyone think clearcoat would be a good idea? or maybe some rubbing/polishing compund?

I bet that looks killer on your dark green car too. Anyway, I think clear coat would work pretty good on them. Mine came out pretty shiney.

I actually have gotten pulled over for my tail lights. I don't think actually it was for the lights, though, he just probably used it as an excuse to pull me over. Anyway, he took a look at them, and thought they were blackouts (the stick on kind). I told him the car came like that. I opened the trunk and he was totally confused, he's like well they look stock to me. So I was on my way. But the funniest part was I had the case to a ***** DVD I just bought in my trunk (no, I'm not a perv, my friends and I like to drive around with **** on in my car with all the windows down and the sound system blasting - it's really a lot of fun! ).

well that's my story. boink boink

Hey Chris, I thought you would be some mechanical upgrades when I did not see u in the lighting forum?

I totally agree that blacked out lights look great for SHOW, but using them at the road, well... I wouldnt dare.. I'm too afraid of getting whiplashed and thats a dark tunnel that noone should volunterily open a gate to. Getting an extra set for show use is the safe way to go.

You may first want to ask about the local enforcement of the federal regulations that prohibit the alteration of any of the lighting on cars in the US. They may not mind, but then, you may be ticketed.

The funny thing is that mine aren't very dark, and like someone said, the light still shines through just fine. I think this was just the excuse the cop gave me just to pull over a "wrongdoing" teenager.

You spray it on the outside, but mine came out a really nice finish.

And herman, I don't really understand your first question:

i used the tint spray on my car. It's available here at A&A. about 13 bucks a can. I do suggest removing the tailights to spray them. If the stuff dries on the paint, it's very hard to get off.

Round here they are pretty heavy on the enforcement. SHOnTell just spent hour scraping the Nightshades out of his Gen3 alittle while ago after a "Fix-it" ticket stop. So I wont rick it till someone can find a place I can buy smoked style with red or something like that.

i have the niteshades stuff and haven't been pulled over (knock on wood). got nailed for blackouts on the rears before. hte more i think about it i start to worry about the possibility of getting rear ended. at night u can see them fine, they are just dimmer, but during the day it makes them difficult to see
