I decided to finish the 60K on my car since the waterpump has been leaking. I finished yesterday and the car drove fine for a 15 mile trip. I came home and took a shower then left again. Problem was I got about a mile and the car quit. It was making an awful sound while turning over and I thought the crank pulley had come off. So, I had it towed home and disassembled the side of the engine today. Turns out the nut which holds the timing belt tensioner on came loose and the pulley stud which appears to screw into the block snapped off. So, I have absolutely no clue what to do with it now.

I was hoping someone would have some suggestions??? I doubt I can get a drill between the block and firewall to use an ez-out but I could be wrong. Has anyone had this happen to them before???? If so, what did you do???

I'm pretty sure RI-SHO had the exact same problem. I can't remember the specifics but I think he found a 90 degree drill that fit, drilled out the old stud and replaced it with a new one. IIRC, the stud is hard to come by, check your local JY or post a WTB in the open forum.

Thanks guys. I called around town and found a rental place that will rent a right angle drill for $19/day. I'm just a little worried. I've heard that you must drill the hole exactly in the center which doesn't sound very easy.

RI-SHO, any suggestions?
