First time through I would label stuff as it comes off or gets disconnected. Makes putting it back so much less stressful. I usually use baggies or masking tape and a marker.

Thats what i did. I put all the same bolts in seperate baggies with eachother.

I had it off in about 30 min. I'm happy with myself.

Next question/problem - started taking off the front valve cover. Got 7 of the bolts out and then it happened. The 8th bolt just rounded away. Stripped as F***!!!!! What is the procedure for removing a stripped valve cover bolt? When it happened i yelled as loud as i could but then i immediatly put it on the back burner and did the rear cover.

You should be glad it's the front one. Try vice-grip. If you have a spare valve cover bolt, you could just drill it with a reverse drill or drill it little bit and then vice-grip.

I would take a Dremel and put a nice slit/groove in it so u can take a screw driver and tap it counterclockwise until its loose (i used a angle grinder the first time much harder to use even if its the front) there generally good after the first good tap then there generally finger loose. Got valve cover bolts?

Oh! BTW make sure you clean the slots on the valve cover bolts with brake cleaner or sum-thing. i may be mistaken But i think the size is 5 hex or 5.5 not 100% on which... its been a lil bit just using the right one helps a lot too?

I tried using a bigger hex and that didnt work. Tried a torx bit, no luck. Then i ran to walmart and got some screw extractor bits. Those didnt even do it. What finally got it was the good ole vise-grips. I got a big pair and it would barely clamp on the outer edge of the bolt. Gave it one good twist and she broke loose. The job is all done now but i only hand tightened that one bolt for now. I need to find a replacement bolt to put in its place. I guess i'll post in the wtb section. Man am i glad this is over.

its actually pretty simple, there are coolant lines that run into and out of the throttle body, cap them, and loop one hose from where it was coming and going back to on the thermostat housing.

if you drive your car in the winter, i would hesitate to do this living in quebec.

find a tight fitting torx socket and hammer it into the bolt. carefully/ slowly apply pressure (sometimes you have to work it back and fourth a little bit) but it should crack loose.

When I did the 60k on my 95 MTX i removed the hood. It's only 4 bolts and it allows for more room and light while your working.

I know this is an old thread but figured I would remind everyone to MARK their hood hinges when taking off the hood, makes installing it and aligning it back up much easier and FASTER.

Oh... yeah. Aligning the hood is a massive pain in the ****, even more so if you don't have a helper. I sliced my arm open pretty good trying to remove a hood by myself once. Those edges are sharp.

Yeah no shit, I put mine back on by myself after a top 60k. Picking the hood up and putting it on w/o help sucks. Took a few tries to get it aligned and it's still not perfect. Almost dropped the hood, but I did manage to scratch my fender in the process. I don't really care since the car is getting repainted but yeah...it really sucks.
