I took my shift **** off my Auto tranny when installing my cd changer and did not think about the OD button wires, they broke.

Whats the best way to get them hooked back up so I can use the button? Right now I have the wires pulled out so I can touch them together to kick it on and off.

Thanks for the tips.

Did the wires break outside of the shift ****? If so why not just reconnect them and button it back together?

Remove the console and you will have access to the wire. I added a little extra wire so it would not break again, hopefully.

You can replace the wires, even if they broke internal to the shift ****. The internal portion of the OD button can easily be removed by pulling the external OD button straight out of it's socket. There is a small spring metal contact behind the button that will/can fall out so be carefull not to lose it. After you remove the button and spring then the internal OD contacts and wires can/will easily slide/pull out of the shift ****. Then you can access the wires and remove them and soilder new ones into the internal OD button.

Yes it broke in near the white plastic that attatches to the button...I will try to pull the button out tomorrow then, I assume just to use needle nose pliers?

I will then find some small wire to try and reconnect with some excess for later.

Thanks for the tips...hopefully this works so I can get this back and take her to the track.
