Best Strut Spring Combo Any Ideas

GOING TO DO THE STRUTS AND SPRINGS ON THE 1994 ATX WHAT IS THE BEST COMBO TO INSTALL .

LOOKING AT HE TOKIO/EIBACH COMBO


WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO CHANGE STRUTS UPPER BEARINGS AND WHAT ELSE

If I were doing it I would do either Ebiach/Tokico, or MOOG/Monroe. You should replace the bearings, the mounts, the endlinks, the ball joints (depending if they need it), and any other bushings that you would want to replace. You should also replace all the mounting hardware for the struts.

never thought about the monroe is there different models of the monroe ???

If you go the Moog CC's (Cargo Coil) Monroe route, the Monroe Sensatracs are what you want. This is the economical route for a wee bit stiffer setup than stock while maintaining close to stock ride height. If you want lower, you can to that too, just take more coils off- be careful, MTX's and ATX's react differently. While many MTX's have this set up, not too many ATX's do. The ATX front will settle significantly in one month. Most input you receive will be from Gen I MTXers. I cut one coil off the fronts on my ATX. If I had to do it over, I would have taken a half coil off the rears too. I did not touch the rears at all and it would look nicer if it came down ~1/2 inch.

See this thread on Moog CC info. Kenny (NotSoSlowSHO) was one of the pioneers of this setup. If you decide to order the parts, make sure you are ordering the right size swaybar bushings. www.shotimes.com has a listing of swaybar sizes for model years. Although, you are better off just measuring what you have since Ford was inconsistant with the swaybar sizes used on the SHO. HERE

Not sure how new you are to SHOs, so please excuse me if I'm telling you stuff you know. Here's my take on the strut/spring question. The original SHOs like my '89 had stiffer strut/spring combinations than the later years. I also have two '95s, one MTX and one ATX. The '95s are definitely not as stiff a ride, but not as fun either in my opinion. If you want more of a sport ride that's true to the original concept, go with the Ebiach/Tokico. I'm saying this based on riding around in my friends car with Tokicos and original gen 1 springs, it rode very similar to my '89 when it was new. As was stated, the MOOG/Monroe combination is probably close to what you have now.

I currently have Ebiach/Koni in the garage waiting to go on my '95 MTX. The most expensive setup outside of coilovers, but I wanted some control over the stiffness. Hopefully I'll have them on in a week or so.

As for the strut bushings and bearings, they can make a difference in the ride height also. Check the SHO Nut web site for some info on the ford options and the different dimensions and different combinations. I intend to compare some some different brand aftermarket pieces against some new ford bushing/bearings I have to see how the aftermarket stacks up, since some of the ford pieces are out of production.
