So, previous owner took off the compressor and put on an aftermarket bypass pulley/bracket set up that ain't right. It sheared off one rib from the belt and although it runs, I've now got a slave compressor that I want to put back in the right place so I can use a full width belt. So....I just need to support the engine while I take off that pulley and bracket and then put on the compressor. Where should I support the engine with the hydro lift or jack stands or both so I don't hurt anything but can get to the bolts and such to do that swap?? tks in advance...

....not the oil pan!!!!...so...under the crankshaft pulley?? lumber???

Nothing wrong with using a chunk of wood on the oil pan. Only for supporting the engine dont try lift the car like that.

I ditto that! :thumb: Many cars oil pans are not strong enough to do that and will crush, but the SHO oil pan is very solid and easily supports the engine, so no problem.

a block of wood (like a 2x6) under the oil pan, then jack gently.

I haven't looked at an SHO front engine mount/ AC Compressor mount in a while but isn't the AC mounted to the cast iron bracket and not to the block? The cast iron bracket is mounted to the block with separate, shorter bolts. It's been too long for me.

Mount connects to bracket and bracket to block. he apparently has a non-stock bracket for the bypass setup and is needing to put a stock bracket back on in order to add the comp. back in.
