what are some of the best performance struts to use on taurus sho.(89)

Not much to choose from. Basically Tokico's and Koni's. You can use KYB GR2's if you stay with the stock springs.

Konis. They are adjustable, if it weren't for that I'd say it's anyone's ballgame. Look me up and I can take you for a ride if you're ever out my way.

Definately Konis. I've had mine for 4 years and love them. They come with a lifetime REPLACEMENT gaurantee (not rebuild). They sent me 2 brand new ones this year when I notice leakage. Gotta luv a company that stands behind their product!

I haven't installed mine yet, but I've got a set of kyb gr-2's sitting in a box. I should of just saved a fex more pennies and gone for koni's. They probably are the best around. If you could afford it, go for coil-overs from IPT and get konis put in there. That would be one great setup I would think.

so you can't use KYB GR2 struts and lower the car with aftermarket springs? I wanted to get intrax springs and new struts at the same time, but I don't want to spend a fortune on konis. I use the car for driving to work and for trips, maybe an occasional autox, just for fun though.

I assume the problem with the KYB's would be crappy dampening if subjected to a lower ride height? If so, can KYB revalve them? I know bilstein will revalve struts to your spec, think it was 30 bucks a pair last I checked for the volvo.

i have seen lotts of ppl use Itrax/KYB combo with good results. If you're raceing the car often, they wear out quick. when my car goes more of an all out race car, i'll switch to Konis probably.

With my lower than avg. drop I used KYB GR2's and now 2yrs later there basically dead upfront, but first I need my SHO running before I pay up for Koni's.

given that when he bought them in the group buy they were 1300...Thats cheap...trust me i was in on the group buy for them. The guy is on the forum (94shoboy), hes a good guy, and he wouldnt sell it for more than they are worth. **** its 900 for the coilovers and 500 for the konis.

then how do you explain the *** coilovers going for 1700-2200? there are pleanty made for *** cars that are 300 but those $1700+ ones still sell. It has to do with quaility, plus i dont think shawn sells that many of them.

Your right many CL/TL's on the forum I am on have Zeal coilovers which start at a base of $1799 then get higher in price for other options and rates. But this of course is a all in one unit which makes the shocks/springs just one unit. So for $900 IPT coilovers, $500 Koni's, a total of $1400 it is still pretty cheap. Of course there is more demand for higher quantity produced car, thats why I am going with $900 TEIN's which are 16-way adjustable and have an interior mounted control for dampner ajustment on the fly thumbs_u .

Of cource, no offence to IPT, but IPT is no ZEAL or TEIN or BLITZ or Tanabe...I mean, those are coilover kits proven on the street and track by cars such as the Skyline, Silvia, RX7, Fairlady Z, Type R, and oh yeah, Supra. The price on a set of coil-overs from those companies is justified.....but that is just my opinion...I would love a set of IPT coil-overs though ;-)

See, the thing about the IPT coilovers is that they are RACE READY. These are serious, heavy-duty race parts. They aren't the ****** ass GC coilovers you can get for your little brothers automatic Honda Accord. These GC and such coilovers that might be getting compared to here basically serve ONLY the purpose of having adjustable ride height. Ask a SERIOUS Honda guy what he thinks about cheaper coilovers vs. some of the more expensive pieces. If all you want is adjustable ride height, try to see if the coilovers GC makes for the reg Taurus will work.
