Street + Autocross tires

Hi,
New to the forum but have been autocrossing for several years. I agree with the tires you mention. You can add the Yokohama AD-07's and the new Bridgestone RE-01's. Also the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, and the Hankook RS-2 (not sure if that's the way they abbreviate it) are very competitive. The Yok's are expensive, the Bridgestones nearly as much, Michelin too. Azenis and Kumho are better bang for the buck, I'd rate the MX as just a hair slower (I ran them last season and figure I gave up a quarter to half second per lap, but they're much more forgiving ride-wise as a street tire!).

For street tires the the Azenis 615 and the Kuhmo MX are the real deal.
The Azenis's seem better for a camber challenged car but will overheat. Spraying water is mandatory.
The MXs are great with regard to heat, but require enough camber.

HAs anybody tried the Bridgestone RE-01's. I was looking into getting a set of them....

The prices recently went way down on the RE-01R's. Time to get some.

Locally, the leading street-tire class autocrossers use only 3 brands:

1. Yokohama ADVAN NEOVA AD07
2. Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R
3. Falken Azenis RT-615

The Yokohamas supposedly are a tad better than the Bridgestones, which are a tad better than the Falkens. The Yoko's are also the most expensive, then comes the Bridgestones, then the Falkens. You get what you pay for.

Last autocross where it was raining heavily, both guys with the top times of the day were running the Yokohama's. You can bet they are good in the wet.

i'd like to add that if you're planning on running rain events the azenis 615s are not for you. they royally sucked at the curcuit cross i just ran. they would totally let go with very little warning. in the dry they are great, but deff. not a wet weather tire.

Has anyone used Fuzion ZRi, I believe they are made by bridgestone and supposed to be a good auto-x tire.

The RE-01R is supposed to be a good compromise between a street tire and a track tire. Just don't expect anything amazing out of them.
