Tried fixing the a/c compressor today finally removed the clutch only to find out someone already removed the shim, so I guess that means I need a new clutch? Anyways bought a new belt since the old one was cracked and appears to be original (no markings whatsoever). We broke the tensioner trying all night to get the belt on, after a quick search I read it may be wrong length. I checked against the old one and they were almost exactly the same length the cracked one I figured had stretched a little bit. It's less than 1/2" shorter (I would say closer to 1/4"). If this is the case where should I get one? I bought a dayco belt #5060895 or 6PK2275 which should be 89.5". Should I try another brand or longer belt? We had a extremely hard time getting this one to go on.

Go get a 90 inch Dayco belt. Here is the Dayco # 5060900. I just went thru the same crap about a month or so ago. I replaced my timing cover seal and bought a new 89.5 belt and spent 2 hours beating up my hands to get the thing on. I have found out on here, it seems there are different size alt pulleys. Hope this helps.

You probably don't need a new clutch but just the coil. That may be a cheaper route to take.

I just got a new belt and it was a 90.5. The 89.5 is for a non SHO Taurus I believe.

Yep, this is the correct belt. After getting this belt it went on painlessly. Measured old belt (89.5"), measured 5060900 belt (89.5"). Maybe a belt manufacture issue like gator belts.

What kind of coil?

I don't know if that's the problem. The a/c was working before just only at cold start and with a broom.

The part number is YB-540 or (F6DZ-19D798-AA). You might be able to get one through Rockauto.com or an online parts dealer like Torrie at Fast Parts Network.
