I'm going to post this here but...feel free to move it if you see fit oh SHOforum powers that be--it might make more sense elsewhere.

Alright here goes- Sam's 92 has right now an Odyssey race battery in it- very small. That battery, while reading good, still doesn't seem to be doing the trick (it just won't hold a charge). I'm trying to get a new one quickly so that I can get the car started and hopefully inspected before I leave (next Thursday) so that it can get some ahem...surgery...done later.

I'll get the size soon so that there can be a reference. Bob...(not you, Babs!) if you happen to come online...any thoughts for your old car?

There must be some sort of parasitic drain when the engine is off.

Put an amp meter between the negative cable and negative post and see if the current draw is over 50 mA. If so this is the reason.

The car was only driven about once a month so we ended up having to jump it every time to start it. It's just that now I can leave the cables connected to whatever car I'm using to jump it for several minutes, it will start, and then if I turn it off and try to turn it back on when the car is not connected to another...it won't start. Like I said it JUST started doing that...the week Sam left.

Battery tray is 7 in (wide) by 7 and a quarter in (long).

Guys the battery has been in this thing for who knows how long and we're replacing it because that's what Sam wants to do and that's what we think needs to happen. The question is not 'is it the battery' the question is- it's going to take two weeks to get another Odyssey and we don't have that kind of time so what OTHER battery is small enough to sit in there instead.

My first thought was an optima.

Pull the battery & take it to your local auto supply * tell em you need a replacement this size or to match the dimns you found. tell em its for a lawnmower or something cause thats what some techs will want to know.

Local shop has seen the battery-- they were the ones that charged it for me originally. I'm taking it to them again today to see if they can find anything.

Hey guys. I have a feeling its the battery. Like Ashley said, The battery could not take sitting for more then a few days before it would go dead again. This started happening once it got cold outside. As far as something being left on....There are no accessories to be left on in this car for there to be a drain. :)

I just think its time to replace the battery. Also, FWIW - It's a Odyssey PC925 Battery, It's been in the car for WELL over a year now.

FWIW, my wife, back when she worked for AAP, would revive supposedly dead optimas all the time by putting them on a trickle charge for upwards of two weeks. She's running a blue-top that wouldn't hold a charge that's been in her car for almost 3 years now, and it works like a champ after a 3 week trickle charge. And she got it for $25! (cos it was supposed to be thrown away and employees are allowed to do that) Before I wrecked my car, I had a red-top in it that went through the same 2 week trickle charge. Don't fast charge them, though, they tend to vent out the top and once they do that, they are absolutely done...
