battery light?

i have a 91 SHO the other day the battery light flashed on then it came back on after a little bit and it not staying on its dim and then bright i tryed to clean and tightin the cables and it still does it what could it be?

Most likely dying alternator and/or dying battery. Or a huge power drain not accounted for in system capacity.

Have you checked that little grey plug ontop of the alternator? Thats the wire that triggers the dashboard light. If that connection becomes corrodedor if that wire becomes loose or isnt connected to that little terminal it will think there is no power coming from the alternator and turn that light on.

Check the charge system volts while the engine is running.

Hose the back of the alternator down with WD 40. You might wash out some carbon and free up the brushes so it works a while longer.

alternator is my biggest fear!
do yourself a favor and install a voltmeter (analog or digital) in the dash area so you always know how your alt is doing.

Its the alt.

A dying batt will NEVER light up the batt light.
