I just had the alternator rebuilt in my blue 94. When starting it up after the front 60k, the battery light was NOT on. Running the alternator UDP from SHO Shop 3 piece kit. Never had any issue prior to this. Ran a spare alternator with a different rectifier pack and same UDP pulley, and no issues then.

When they rebuilt it, they replaced the bearings, some clip that held in the brushes, and one other small item. DID NOT replace the rectifier pack or brushes.

I leave my sister's house to come home, get going down the road, put my foot in the secondaries, and get to the light, look down and the battery light is on solid, no flickering.

On my way back to her house, anything about or above 3000 -3200 RPM the battery light goes out.

I seem to remember having this issue before, but not sure. And I thought it was something simple.

My guess is on the rectifier pack. Thoughts?

Your battery could be on the beginning stages of going bad. A combination of it not taking a full charge and running the ALT UDP could be causing it. Once you hit 3K rpms it might be getting enough juice to put the light out but below that its too weak to run off the ALT with that pulley.

I had this in my 91 with a brand new battery. It was always on the first time you started it up until you went over 2000 rpm. Then it went off until you shut the car off again. Never changed, so I never messed with it. Still have the alternator for a spare.

Mine did that when I replaced the alt, so I replaced it again. Seems like a regulator issue to me.

Not sure what it is. I got the alternator case powder coated, had it rebuilt, then sanded off the mounting holes, where it meets the mounting bracket, thinking I may have a bad ground, but, even after doing that, I still get the battery light until 3k rpm. I just put the spare I had back on the car, and the light goes out. I even swapped the regulator pack twice, but no change. I have no idea what it is. Wish I did. It will go to AutoZone when I get back, to test it. I will probably take it back to the place that rebuilt it and see whats up. I just didn't have time this week with getting ready for the convention. :nut:
