On my way home from work yesterday, my battery light flickered on when I came to a stop light. The rest of the way home, it came on everytime I came to a stop (at idle). Once I brought the RPM's up a tad (started moving), it would go back off. I thought maybe the outside temperature was draining my battery (it was in the single digits).

Today, to and from work, the problem persisted. It actually got worse - now the light stays on most of the time. I stopped by Murreys (auto parts store) and had them test the charging system. Aparently, the battery and alternator are in tip top condition (kicking out 14.7 volts).

Anybody experienced this problem before?

Thanks,
Greg

battery light ?

The Same thing happened to me, until one morning the starter wouldn't even crank. I ended up getting under it and banging on the starter, and that got it to crank over. At first i thought the starter had just frozen up or something, it was i cold day, idk, but when i brought it into my garage and got under it, i was pulling on some of the starter cable wires, and then a little black wire fell on my hand. I sprayed it down with contact cleaner, and clipped it back into it's socket. You'll find this wire near the top/side of the starter motor. It turns out that the morning that i banged on the starter, i actually hit that little wire, and allowed it to contact what it needed to make the starter crank, because ever since i put that wire back on, the car has started every time, and it usually catches quicker. The battery light never comes on anymore either. I was told that this little wire is what powers up the starter to allow it to work. It kindof looks like a sensor connector too. Hopefully this will help ya. O and make sure you disconnect your battery before you get under there too.
