On my way home from work yesterday, my battery light flickered on when I came to a stop light. The rest of the way home, it came on everytime I came to a stop (at idle). Once I brought the RPM's up a tad (started moving), it would go back off. I thought maybe the outside temperature was draining my battery (it was in the single digits).

Today, to and from work, the problem persisted. It actually got worse - now the light stays on most of the time. I stopped by Murreys (auto parts store) and had them test the charging system. Aparently, the battery and alternator are in tip top condition (kicking out 14.7 volts).

Anybody experienced this problem before?

Thanks,
Greg

I bought the car with 94K miles on it. It now has 118K miles. I haven't changed the belt, but I doubt it's the original. I considered a worn belt as a possible cause, but that should have shown up when the alternator was being tested, I would think.

I had a new stereo installed over the weekend. I was starting to wonder if that had something to do with it.

I may never know what caused the battery light to come on. It was on during my 45 minute drive to work today. But it didn't come on at all on the way home. Hopefully that is the last I will be seeing of the dreaded red light!

BTW, I posted this in the wrong place - my car is a 1994.

Thanks,
Greg
