Ok here is my situation. Sometime while driving around my battery light will turn on and then flicker and go out. It usually happens when I am driving a little slower or around town. I thought it most likely was that my altenator is dying but then this weekend I pulled into blockbuster video and noticed in the glass of the store front that my daytime running lights were flickering. My car is a 94 and they are supposed to have DRL's from the factory (Canadian laws) but I know that they have not worked since I got the car. That was the first time I had ever seen them come on. So my questions is could this DRL problem be putting up the battery light on my dash? If not, I'm guessing I need a new alt. which is fine cause it's under warranty. Second questions, how do I go about removing my screwed up DRL's?

You can have the output of the alternator checked to determine if it is putting out the required voltage. I just replace the brushes in my OEM alternator since I was getting the battery light after a hot startup before the revs crested 1500 rpm.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will get the voltage checked this week since my car is going to be in the garage getting new rear suspension put on anyway. I always had problems with altenators in my old Sunbird GT so I'm used to this happening. It seems that rebuilt altenators never last very long in my experience. My battery light normally is coming on below 1500rpm but the other day I was driving along at about 2200rpm and the light came on. I haven't noticed any change in driveability though and in my Sunbird it always sputtered when the voltmeter dipped below half. Funny that my Sunbird had more gauges than the SHO does! As for the DRL's...anyone have any ideas? Is there a fuse I can pull to disable them or is it possible for me to remove the DRL module? If so how?

Thanks
