Basic V8 SHO questions

Im looking into getting back in the V8 Sho game and I had some basic questions.

1. Other than this forum and maybe V8sho.com, what are other websites that I can go to that will give me good info?

2. I owned a 99'sho a few years ago and the trans went out at 80k. Are they any upgrades that I can do that would extend the life of an automatic?

3. I've read on this forum about a 5speed swap and I really cant find much about it. Can anyone give me any info on this topic?

4. I've heard about the cam issue a longtime ago, so is there anymore info on this? Certain years have more failures than others? Ill most likely get them welded anyways.

5. Are there any common problems I should look for when looking at these cars? I haven't owned in quite a while so I'm not sure anymore.

Not that I am aware of, This websites Search function is the only thing you should ever need to find info.

X-Cal 3 programer (With a Paul Nimz Tune), A Shift kit and some sort of upgraded trans cooler.

The 5 speed swap uses the transmission from from the V6 cars with a bunch of other Custom stuff. Kirk at Northeast SHO will do the swap for you. ( NESHO.COM )

The problem has never been narrowed down to any specific year. Just get them Welded. V8 SHO has a list of people who can weld Cams. Kirk at NESHO can also do this service for you.

Just your basic MX stuff that you would look for on any used car. The V8 SHO's are not as nit-picky as the V6 cars.

But there's never any SHO talk on either of those two lists. Sure you can ask questions though.

Now there is a largely accurate but very broad generalization. I believe there is one for sale now too... Not all of them use the tranny from the V6 SHO's. Mine uses a tranny from a V6 car but it isn't a 15 year old transmission. Mine came out of a 2004.
