The '89 through '95 SHO's ball joints are included in the lower control arms. The Moog parts have a lifetime warranty (thank goodness). The listings have not been checked lately, but the part numbers are correct for the SHO.

Lower control arm, left, Moog K8577, O'Reilly, $ 67.99
Lower control arm, right, Moog K8579, O'Reilly, $ 67.99

Keep the pickle fork away from the ball joints and you'll never rip the boots! :thumb: Just use a long prybar placed under the subframe and on top of the strut rod and push down (or sit/stand on it as is sometimes required).

You can remove the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle, after the pinch bolt and nut have been removed, by placing a piece of hard wood on the strut rod and using a small bottle jack. Place the base of the jack on the wood and the tip of the jack against the lip of the inner fender well. You may also want to protect the inner fender well lip with a piece of hard wood if your worried about scratching the paint. When putting it all back together the pinch bolt and nut, as well as the axel nut, should be replaced. The new tie rod end will include new nut and cotter pin. The pinch bolt nut and the axel nuts are "lock" type nuts and are good for one use only.

As for ruining the joint boots with a ball joint or pickle fork, if this is happening you are not using the tool properly. There is a proper tool that is made for removing tie rod ends and it will not cut the boot.

Yes, the only time i will use a pickle fork is if the joint is already junk and i'm replacing it. otherwise is a no no. you can get a tool that will pop it off as well. you can get a decent front end service kit for about $60 that will include it. they are a real headache preventer.
