Yeah.. pickle forks aren't necessary. The ball joints are NOT pressed into the control arm.. they just get stuck there by vibration and heat to metal to metal contact.

As far as the snap ring, stock ball joints do not have them, they just have a nut on the end. Even the stock ones I bought from Ford still don't have them.

I found Moog's do not have them either, but they do have a castle nut with a pin.

I'm not sure what brand uses a snap ring?

I have not had transportation all week so Ive not been able to get over to the car to work on it. My air tools are long gone (long story) so I dont have my impact to work with. I think I will be able to get over there tonight and try to get it fixed... I hope I succeed as my dad is getting pretty ****** off that my car is sitting at his place. Told me that if I dont have it gone by the end of the week, he will be having it towed.

I just adore my parents.

Thanks bro. Deploytosave has been kind enough to let me borrow is 94 ATX for the day so I can get to 4 interviews today. He's also leaving work early to come help me with this job.

Go to Autozone and get the following:

A Ball Joint Press.

And the Gen 3/4 Specific adapter set for the Taurus.

Most jobs are easier with the right tools.

The CV came out in 2 separate pieces :nut:

We'll be replacing ball joints within the next 2 months. That driver's side joint took one hellova beating before it came out. Bent a solid steel Pitman puller. The car now darts a little bit when under heavy throttle input. ***** crazy.

I'll also be buying a new battery for this car asap too. Sat for 3 days and it barely even cranked over tonight. Shit never ends. FFFFFUUUUUU!!!!!

guys before my knees gave up i was a senior master ford tech and an automatic tran specialist had to find a way to get them off to remove lower sub frame on a regular basis here it is MAC makes a pitman arm puller (looks like the harbor freight one) but much better quality doesn't flex that and my composite IR impact removing the nuts and popping the ball joint took all of 5 minuets for both sides.
