I am not sure on fuel injection but with a carburetor a aftermarket air filter and stock exhaust will richen your fuel mixture and foul your plugs
with a carb stock air filter and open exhaust will lean your fuel mixture and foul your plugs
either way you should not cut corners an air filter, exhaust and proper jetting(or ecu upgrade in your case) will add horsepower, throttle response and torque.
the super high output is fine from the factory as far as I am concerned.
you may be damaging your engine and looking at a valve adjustment sooner than factory recommended.

Also, that is 100% true and i agree with every word of it. But Fuel injection is way smarter than most people will give it credit.

yes with oxygen sensors and air flow meters it would still run but not as well as if it were done correctly.

If you are not sure then why are you posting and giving bad info? While a tune is always the best, the SHO can handle a lot without any issues on a stock tune. There is aboslutely no need to upgrade the stock Fuel system unless you are seeing 100+ more horsepower then stock, and that is very difficult to do N/A in these cars.
