I would like to introduce myself. I'm Bill D. from KC and owned a 89 SHO from 1992 to 2000 when at 220,000 it lost a rod bearing. I think a miss located down shift had something to do with that. After the engine was fix by a mechanic my son drove it for another 6 mo's before it went out again. He said it was the best 6 month of his 18 year old life. I bought a Contour SVT to replace it and have had a great time with it but it is now over 205,000 miles and is having wiring problems making it not 100% reliable, so I'm looking at a Red 2010 with the Performance Package amongst other things. I plan to make the purchase soon so I thought I would start looking at the forum to see what I have missing since 2000.

See you at the SHO,
Bill

Bill, tough luck on the 89, but that's a pretty good length of time to own one. Rod bearings are a common failure item on the 89-95 cars.

Good luck with the search for your 2010, there's a really good knowledge base on these already, so I'm sure you'll find everything you need.

Welcome!
