Autozone a replacement radiator in stock for my 95 MTX for 139.99. Price sounds good but is this a direct replacement? Is it just a drop in bolt up affair or is it different from the orginal? Mine is slowly leaking with 101000 miles on it. Also, are the hoses sold as a kit or should I piece them together when I pull them off?

The autozone radiator is a drop in bolt on affair for both the MTX and ATX. That's a very good price. I paid $20 from my local autozone. I've been thrilled with my GDI radiator from autozone. It has a lifetime warranty, so if it leaks I can get a new one from any old autozone. It seems pretty common for them to have one in stock. That makes for good peace of mind in my eyes.

As for the hoses. SHOZ123 has used all bulk hose except the U-shaped oil cooler hose. I myself replaced mine with a mishmash of aftermarket and factory hoses. The easiest thing to do would be to just spend $150 for the complete factory hose replacement setup from shonut http://www.shonutperformance.com
Although this isn't as cheap as using bulk hose, if you can spare the extra dollars it will be the easiest thing to do and the factory hoses are very high quality (mine lasted 148,000 miles/13 years before any started to leak. Replacement was long overdue at that age and mileage but it's nice to know the quality is there for them to go the distance if you choose to abuse/neglect the normal replacement schedule.)

The two heater hoses consist of a shaped hose from the firewall (this is where I used aftermarket hoses. Factory are best here.) to two metal pipes then to factory crimped connections to short pieces of hose that clamp to the head/block/thermostat housing or whatever. Replacement of these involves snipping the factory crimp off and then replacing with an equal length of 3/4" bulk hose and your own clamp.

For all the other factory clamps you will want to replace with stainless steel screw clamps. The wretched one-way factory screw clamps are a bit of a bitch to remove. You will probably have to cut those up with some tin snips (and with a dremel cutoff wheel if you are very careful not to damage the metal pipes or anything else). Really not too hard, just a bit of time, effort, and cursing to get all of the hoses replaced (there are a lot of them!) Just knowing that a lot of us have been there and done that will probably make the job easier for you.

Buy the lifetime warranty radiator from autozone with confidence, get a hose replacement kit from shonut unless money is super tight and then you can try just using bulk hose (you'll need a factory or aftermarket U-hose for the oil cooler though).

Hope this helps

Rick
