Tsk, Tsk. I've never been a fan of bigger wheels. Just don't see the point. And I'll troll anywhere I want thank you.

Thanks

You have earned a place in my shitbox. Not many do that.

Right up there with Doug Lewis, Eric Lehman, Tim Wright and Larry Eck. You are in good company.

Definitely faster on the 18's, but I switched from Hoosiers to Kumho V710's at the same time, so it's hard to say whether it's the tire brand or the rim size. I suspect it's more the tire brand. I really like the V710, and I think it is definitely a better tire than the Hoosier A6.

275's are in the works, but probably not until next autocross season. Still have a ways to go in terms of preparation, but ultimately the goal is to make the SHO nationally competitive in CP and make the trip out to Topeka, Kansas. :thumb: Once it can consistently beat the Z06's on the autocross course, then I'll know we're there. Right now we're about 1 to 1.5 sec behind.

FWIW, the current Grassroots Motorsports has an interesting test where they applied ten basic "upgrades" to a WRX (IIRC) and measured the improvement in lap time for each on an autocross setup. Everything they did (which was all basic, sensible stuff) gave them an improvement except when they went to a larger rim...they lost a tiny bit of time.

backs up my experience. for open track I'd run as much sidewall as I can get.

auto-x the short sidewall stuff is great for steering input, changing direction, etc. A lot of C5 guys will swap the 17's up front for 18's, and take the 18's off the back and run 17's just to get more sidewall compliance/forward bite.

Bump for an old thread. With this wheel size and tire size, have you experienced any rubbing issues on the strut or anything? Im looking at a gen2 and if i got it would want to try these 18s on it. These would cost more than im paying for the car but ehhh who cares
