I doing some legwork, I know it will fit, have to get a new steering wheel, there's a guy with a 240 that has done it. It might still be an auto, but it just got better in my book

Kool! They've been doing this for years on mostly RWD autos. Nice to see they make a universal one.

I wonder if it would play nice with the tweecer? This would go great with the 3.99 final gearing also, I about 95% sure I will try to be the first auto sho to try this mod:)

I would have to know more about this device than what appears in the article linked above to be able to determine if it would be feasible on an SHO automatic transmission.

The way that the stock PCM operates the transmission is more complicated than just a simple flipping of a switch. Then there is the converter strategy to contend with. I can see something like this being quite possible, but essentially the device would have to completely take over transmission functions from the PCM, but still "play nice" with the PCM at the same time.

I know somedude was looking at doing this, but homebrew. Don't know if he ever got anywhere with it.

Good luck with it, if you can get it working then I might finally start considering an ATX. Shifting is fun.

Mr. Aonoymous,

They said they could make it play nice and make one that is like a piggy back and would need the wiring harness for that

heres my take on this

from looking at that article, and it saying that it works on older style manually controlled automatics(no computers) that this must use an actuated rod to physically change the gear the transmission is in. It doesn't give the computer a signal or anything to change gears

it would be just like moving the shifter on the console....

I don't think you could get a seperate 3rd gear shift and 4th gear shift as the SHO is not setup for that, you have 3 forward gear detents, D, 2, 1... with you having an overdrive off button to control that department... if you started a run, with the overdrive button off... then you could get it to go 1-2-3 and hold out 3rd... to shift into 4th you would have to press the button on the console shifter....

I think that sounds about right, I think you would have to put the 4th gear in manually also. A lot of what you said make it like it could be a go on this:hail:, IMHO there is a 69 z28 running this also

I'm in heaven and I could live without that, but I couldn't live without having a tweecer, and I would have a stall-converter also
