this covers gen2 and gen3. i have a 97 bone stock, 95k, not welded :bonk: with the 100k looming i am trying to figure out if a mtx from a gen 2 will bolt straight onto the 3.4 block. if i can clear that hurdle i think i can make the rest work. thanks for any help.

95k and not welded. Spend $500-$700 on your 100k and camweld first.

You will love your car so much more. Then figure out the ATX to MTX swap.

Also I recommend you visit www.V8SHO.com :thumb:

You would need a Duratec-based manual transaxle (Cougar / Contour).

You would also need a custom engine management system, since the V8 SHO's engine computer only came in ATX flavors.

Look into MSD Ignition's new coil-on-plug system - that'd be an all-inclusive way of possibly handling that.

I wonder if the MSD coils are any more durable? I assume they coils could be adapted to the OEM plug and just swapped out using OEM/after market chip programming & wiring.

I thought the only difference between an ATX and MTX computer was a shift schedule?
I'm afraid that there's quite a bit more to it than that. :)

Actualy....no.

If you had a mtx bolted up youd throw a hand full of codes for missing sensors that are no longer needed. All you need is a basic chip to remove the codes!

you could hook one up with no programing and get it to run right off the bat! (wth no issues or sode effects!)

Brad,

My comment that "there's quite a bit more to it than that" was actually in response to Glue Maker's question that "the only difference between an ATX and MTX computer was a shift schedule". The answer to his question in this case would be no, as there is quite a bit more to the ATX computer than just the shifting schedule.

Excellent work on the Project Baby SHO, though! I didn't realize that you and 'TeH Bob' had brought it as far as you have. ;)

yeah, long shot, IIRC it will cost you 4000$

Depends on alot as to cost. at this point, the project has cost me only a few undred dollars in travel expenses. Parts have cost esentially nothing,

For the average person, DIY, it would be 1-2k maybe more depending on how much stuff you rebuild.

The biggest expensie of this project will be the tranny rebuild, which will be about $1K (all new syncros, blocking rings, shift fork(s), LSD, etc)

I agree, it depends how much you can do by yourself. 4,000$ include new MTX, custom chip and labor. Someone posted on this forum a year ago IIRC and sad he can do it for 4k. Not sure, but the price included new 6speed MTX from europen Ford Mondeo STI.
One for sure, it can be done :****:

We are talking about SHO V8.
SHO V8 is Duratec 2.5 V6+2 cyl, 2.5 litters/6cyl=0.42*8=3.33 litters.
Yamaha just made the intake.
