I was driving normally when the car started to shift wierd. I could smell something so I drove back home (5 blocks). It wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. When I got home and looked at it, there was a very small cut in the radiator hose. It was almost bone dry, this happened around 30-40 minites ago. I filled it up, got a new hose and all should be good. Well, the car is still shifting horrible and the temp. is still getting very high. Almost in the red range. I don't know if this will be OK in a little bit while it cools down..

Anyone know what the prob. is?
Thanks.

OK, update: engine is getting REALLY hot just going aroud the block... there is a small amount of smoke comming from the under the hood but it was comming from under the engine. How do I check to see if the Thermostat is stuck/closed?
