A few days ago I noticed some spots on the driveway which looked like
atf fluid. I brought the sho to the local dealer to determine where the fluid was coming from. They said that the leak was coming from the seal between the converter and transmission, and would cost about $1500 to fix, that's if nothing else had to be replaced.

1)In April I had the transmission flushed, could this have contributed to the seal leak?

2)If I have to drop the transmission to have the seal replaced, should I have anything else replaced in the transmission? It's shifting ok and although (10)
years old, has not much mileage.

Thanx,
John

Well, it would be a waste of the labor to R&R a used transmission, IMHO. How many miles are on the unit?

The transmission's original, and has about 40k miles on it. Seems to shift ok.
I don't beat it that much. It just seems to me like a lot of money just to replace a seal. I'm wondering at this stage if I should I be considering a rebuilt one from FPS.

Well, at 40k your tranny is probably *ok*, but as you can see things are wearing out from age not mileage as this seal demonstrates. They have to completely remove the tranny to replace that seal, so you are basically paying for all labor.

You cannot go wrong with a FPS tranny.
