You can have a shop rebuild it with a shift kit as well as all of the available upgrades. FPS does a really good job at rebuilding them but SeanMc had a local shop rebuild his and supposedly can handle around 400hp. If a shop does performance trannys they will know. Also get a Tweecer help with the shifts.

best performance mod for an ATX sho is air tools. and dont tune the ATX parameters wrong, locking the tranny in 3rd before its out of second will chew up parts like cookie monster attacking the Kebler elves tree .... no matter how much of an accident it might have been

Well lets see, one tranny a year is my average.

Me too. I'm getting really good at changing them though. I think I am putting more power through the taurus ATX then anybody ever has and I have not had any hard part failures other than that plastic sprag but I really think that failed due to a slipping 3rd gear and the plastic melted, and **** no more 3rd gear.

If I didn't beat the **** out of my FPS tranny I think it would still be in my car now. I am going to have him build me another this fall or winter because the one I have now is failing in second and third (the only 2 gears that really see abuse)

I think really think the transmission can hold a huge amount of power the right tweeks just need to be found.

why do you want a rear mount turbo. Mount yours in the front like I did.

A new SHO atx is actually quite resiliant. My buddies went out at 150k and had a ford reman put in at the dealer. At 245k it was still great and I cant explain in words how bad we beat that car.
I have had bad luck with getting transmissions rebuilt at local shops, they always end up *****'d 10k later.

somedude it just seems a little easier than tryin to squeeze all to in front of the tire althought that is badass i thought about copying your idea

troy i took my sho to a local shop and in one year its seen the shop probably ten times and three complete rebuilds

Thats nuts! When not if, when mine finally goes out im just going to cough up the money for the Ford reman. I dont do any thing crazy with my car so that will be enough for me. Its only like 1400 with my dealer discount. So it actually ends up cheaper than every rebuilder around here.

When mine exploded (and I mean, exploded), I had to get a... well, the guy at the tranny shop said it was a brand new AX4S, but I think it was a ford reman... but it shifts fantastically, and I haven't had a single problem with it in 35k+ miles.

Fun, spirited, sporty driving and beating are WAY different enjoyment. Also driving a car the way it was meant to be driven is not going to hurt it.

Exactly. The SHO is a fun, great looking car which should be treated with care & respect.

Not beat on.
