ok.. haven't had an ATX.. well.. ever.. so.. let me ask you...

I thought park meant park? When I jack the front end up and try to spin the wheels... shouldn't they lock or something? One spins forward, the other in reverse..

I'm thinking of tearing off the oil pan on this car today, but don't wanna get caught doing it... Was thinking in my head that maybe a locked up TQ converter might cause the car to not want to turn over.. (physically)

That is how an open differential works. It does it the same on a RWD w/ an open diff. Thats why in the owners manual they tell you to set the e-brake when changing a tire. Cuz if you jack up, say the left front, the car could roll backwards off the jack. An MTX sho will do the exact same thing if it is in gear.

If one wheel is still on the ground, the other one cannot rotate.

However, do not bet your life on that when under your vehicle as it is far too easy to loose that bet.....

Yeah, that's how the diff works (as stated above). This is why you have to loosen the lugnuts BEFORE you jack the front end up, and why some wheel chocks are a REAL good idea if you jack the back end up.

Well.. Like I said.. I had this memory of a friend who's truck had seized becuase a torque converter bolt had wiggled loose and pried itself against the motor..

Just wishful thinking that it would be a super simple fix.. lol :) We will see how well the oil pan cooperates tonight..see if I can find what I think I'm going to find in there..
