My O/D OFF button is not working. As you guys have posted many times, this is probably due to the O/D wire under the center console being shorted or cut. Sure enough, I found that this wire is cut in my car. But this wire (greyish-white in color) really consists of two small-gauge wires, both with the same color (greyish-white). How do I reconnect this O/D "wire" if the two leads aren't color-coded? :(

Sorry if this is a stupid question. This is my first time posting. I had just bought my 93 ATX just half a year ago, and I'm trying to fix the half dozen or so problems of the car one at a time.

kblam, dont worry about it, and welcome to the forum. i had thought the wires on mine were different colors...but thats ok my memory tends to play tricks on me. it actually shouldnt matter how you reconnect them. all the switch does is complete the circuit, it does not determine direction of electricity flow, so just go ahead and reattach those wires any which way. you can easily verify if it works by just turning the car on and clicking the button quick before you tape the wires up and reassemble everything. i personally recommend some solder and heatshrink tubing and be careful how you lay the wires when you put them back because its easy to place them somewhere where they can break again. good luck!

BOB is right. It's just a momentary switch. You have the exact same shifter as 94-97 thunderbirds and cougars. Therre should be two places on the left of the metal shifter you can use to hold the OD wire in place away from the mechanism.
