For the alternator experts...

I've got an ATX which I replaced the Alt some time ago along with the 3 wire connector.

I know that one wire is for the idiot light in the dash, the other wire is a Sense wire, but the wire in the middle is supposed to be for the Stator.

When I replaced the original pigtail I noticed that the wire for the Stator was not connected to anything so I left that wire the same, not connected to anything.

So, what's that wire really for? Those it really needs to be connected/wired to something?
Does the Stator in the Alt really needs this wire?

Great, thanks! So the mid wire (Stator) isn't used at all. I thought my car's harness was missing this.

Yup, the center wire just dies in the harness a few inches in.

I was reading about how an alternator works and all of its components and when I got to the part for the stator I remembered this. Weird that the SHO ALT doesnt need a connection/signal to the stator
