Hello again, attempting to get my new to me 1997 SHO to drivable status. Car currently has 248k miles and runs great, just has some minor issues.
I am currently in the process of replacing the camshaft sensor( just need to locate it)
And the front driver side half shaft ( shosource has them)
I'm stuck on what I believe is to be my culprit for a stiff pedal. Looks to be a stretched cable. Where can I find a replacement for one? Didn't see one on sho source.

Well the CamShaft sensor is on the front head on the right hand side.

As for stiff pedal, does it get stuck anywhere else besides at the beginning? If only at the beginning its likely a sticking throttle body. Oil gets around it and dries up over time. Remove and clean with carbeurator cleaner.

Did that, found the throttle cable quite stretched and starting to fray. Need to find a suitable replacement cable

If you have a junk yard the cable is the same for all Taurus models.

Good to know. Is the Gen 4 Taurus can do the trick too ? (as Gen 3 is now very difficult to find in scrapyards.)

Yea, mine is right near the air box. The cruise control cable is also on its last leg. Not surprised, since the car has so many miles on it

As you have a 97, I think you cannot take a 98+ cruise control module as replacement (cable is an assembly with the module IIRC). Language to ECM could be different. Others owners here will be able to answer to that question.

Others Taurus however had the same part (all 96-97 Taurus for sure).

Edit : I just rode a post from E1 (an SHO god) confirming that 96-97 and 98-99 cruise control are differents.

I see. That's good to know. I'm just glad all taurii used the same general parts for the most part, makes things much simpler
