Is anyone here using Granatelli ignition coils or have experience with someone that is? Or MSD/Excell? Would a higher perf coil actually increase HP/Torque for the 3.5L ecoboost? Has anyone seen any dyno results on this?

I need to replace the coils on my 2018 SHO and most Ford mechanics I've asked emphatically state to stay with the Ford coils but replace them at regular intervals. Thoughts, inputs?

Thanks, Trobes

I had Accel which is owned by Holley so is MSD if I recall. I had an issue with a dead pedal rolling wot at approx 20mph. My tuner advised me to go back to OEM, in his words - "I have seen more problems with misfires from all the aftermarket coils" he never feels anyone out there makes replacements worth their money than Ford OEMs.

So my original 30k oems that I broke two caps trying to pull the stock ones that i never had an issue with, are in a box, and now the Accel coils are in a box, now the brand new OEM coils are installed and won't go back, not worth in imo. My car performs just fine.

This is my experience also. Others will argue that there are some equal or better aftermarket units, but I got burned enough to stay with ford units-- and this in on non boosted applications.

Aftermarket COP's seem hit and miss as far as reliabilty goes. I had an 01 Lightning for 18 years, and in the "Lightning World," many aftermarket types of COP's were tried: Accel, Granatelli, MSD, Weapon-X, etc. And as I recall. most often had failures associated with them. Overall, the OEM's worked well.
