I'm not sure if you can buy them new or not, but I'm sure you could find one in a salvage yard or perhaps from a member here on the forum.

Just as a side note...if someone here does have one...please keep coorespondence regarding it limited to private message or email.

I recently purchased both tensioner pullies for a 1990 SHO at a dealership. They were not an "in stock" item, and had to be ordered. Most dealership parts departments will require that the special order parts be paid for "up front".

These pullies are EXPENSIVE. As I recall they retailed for about $75. The bearing is what normally goes bad, but it is not a common size bearing, and cannot be replaced as a separate part.

If you have access to a top quality machine shop, you may be able to have the pulley machined to fit a U.S. made bearing into the pulley, Then you will have to have the bolt that the pulley mounts to machined to fit the inside diameter of the bearing.

Even if you find new bearing and pulley, you should keep the old one for the future. You may have to have it machined the next time as parts for these cars are getting more and more difficult to find! rangerj

This is a correction to the prior post.
The 6 ribbed idler pulley, part number E9DZ*6B217*A, has a list price of $97.24 as of June 15, 2002. The smaller pulley was approximately $80.00. When I find that receipt, I'll post the part number and price.

The only place I could find these parts was through a dealer's parts department. They had to order the parts. There was no difficulty with availability at that time.

The tensioner mounting brackets, adjuster bolts, etc. will most likely have to be recovered at a "recycler" (junk yard). rangerj

The bearing is identical to the one used in the Gen 3 idler pulleys. Easy to press out an press into the old pulley.

You may be able to use the Gen 3 pulley in place of the older ones. Although a bit different in design they are the same diameter. The <'99 pulley is a smooth on front and back with no "slot" for the belt to ride. The '99 pulley has a lip on the back to keep the belt from riding over the back of the pulley.

Last time I checked with www.fordpartsnetwork.com the pre '99 pulley was $27. I don't know the price of the '99 pulley. (pre '99 pulley) F6DZ-8678-A serpentine idler pulley.
