They do have the right bolt pattern for the cobra look-a-likes made for the Ford Thunderbird but they are 17x7.

They are not look a likes.. They were made by SVT at the same time as the Cobra ones being made for the almost production SVT T-Bird which 3-5 or so did make it out on to the street.

So its a SVT wheel for that ERA. not strickly Cobra. Cost on real ones were not cheap either.

But the Cobra like all Mustangs have a 4.50" Bolt Pattern, the Taurus has a 4.25" bolt pattern.

I beleive that the T-bird and Taurus were the only Two real Ford Production cars to get this.. Now Volvo and others do as well but they are not badged yet as Ford.

There's replicas and knock-offs of all kinds of Stang wheels available for the T-bird. I've seen all the different variations of Cobra wheels, Bullit wheels, etc. Check Ebay and do a search on this forum and the T-bird forums for websites that sell these wheels.

I have as set of Ford Motorsport Cobra R wheels for my SHO'S. Yes they are technically a rear wheel drive wheel and are for Thunderbird. They are real Ford pieces part # F6SV-1007-AA. No Knock offs. I like um because there as leight as stock wheels. The only problem I've encountered is they are soft and like to bend when you hit alot of potholes, there is no warrenty, Ford Racing states for Racing purposes only on box they come in. I purschaced mine from the Tire Rack along with a pro kit and Koni's, and some Yoko AVS Sports to wrap the wheels in. This was three years ago and they had wheels in stock. I was also lucky to have a shop discount and saved hundreds. I know Summit has a motorsport account, but they do not stock wheels, and they can take 2 weeks or more for delivery to Summit.
Personally I think these are the best wheels you can get for the car, they are factory pieces, look clean and mean(Not Flashy) and they have good Center cap showing the whole Cobra ready to Strike not just the snakes head.
They also came with nice new lug nuts. :thumb:
Maybe I got them so that when a 5.0 pulls up at the stop lite with some nasty looking aftermarket wheels ,wishing they were real Cobra R's. They can get ****** off cause a Taurus is rocking there wheels. :snicker:

I think the wheels were $175 a peice. $195 without the shop discount. I went with 235/45/17 all around. Trying to optimize tire wear. With a Pro kit or other lowering springs, plus the slightly lower overall tire diameter on a 17in rim, makes the front clip on my second gen sit off grond 4in. And fills in wheel well perfectly.
Just remember they are intended for Racing purposes only as stated on box.
Mine say they a 39mm offset, which is in the range of 38mm-45mm? needed for car. Rwd or Fwd all I know is they work, I don't see some big differance between two.

OMG!!?!?!?! Are there REALLY only 3-5 SVT T-Birds out there??? My friend has one that says SVT on the intake manifold and so does his insurance card. We thought it was just a factory freak or something, cause I'd never heard of an SVT bird. It's fast too. Too bad it's beaten to ****...

I like the last sentence in the article SolidState posted. "The blown DOHC 4.6 seems headed for production...in a revised '98 Cobra." It took them a while, but it finally got in the Cobra.
