Just curious as to what the symptoms of a bad wheel bearing are. I have 17" wheels which are "guaranteed fitment" by Tire Rack, but never said what their exact offset is.

I found that the symptom of a failing front wheel bearing is a rivets-on-the-rotor, metal-to-metal screeching noise during braking. That was from lack of lubrication in a front bearing after 242,000 miles on my 1991 SHO with 16" x 7.5" 35 mm offset wheels and 225/55ZR16 tires for the last 150,000 miles. It sounded much like having no brake pads remaining. I wasn't able to detect a wobble to the wheel until the wear on the hub was quite pronounced. It cost me a bit more than $660 to get both bearings and CV joint boots replaced. Hopefully I won't have to replace them again until half a million miles.

Mine also sounded like brake rotors. It is a rubbing noise that remains constant while you are moving, you can feel the friction.
