I did a search and found nothing that is like my problem. When it rains, snows, or I wash my car the light comes on and the ABS stops working. Once it dries out, the light goes out and the ABS is back to normal. Im sure its probably a sensor, anybody have this problem and how did you fix it?

Thanks.

I belive you might be able to check your codes when it happens. Most likely its a sensor like you said. I know the fronts hve one on each side. Don't know about the back.

Greg Raciti mentioned an ABS ring issue back when the forum first started up. I have very little experience with the ABS system in the SHO, so I'd be guessing.

Are you getting water under the hood near the controller?

Another area you could check is around the ABS sensor at the wheels. I don't know this for a fact, but it would make sense. Each wheel has one, if those are damaged and they get wet then it might make the light go on. Just food for thought. Besides, it's always easier to check the simple stuff first. Again, I do not know this for fact...only an idea.

OK thanks for the replies. I will check the codes next time it happens and see what I get. I dint think its the water on the controller under the hood because when it just sprinles out it happens. I will let you all know what I find.

My ABS light comes on every so often. The only way to get it to go off is to turn the car off and pressing the brake hard when turning it back on. I will feel a pop and the light goes off.

I had it checked for codes one time when it came on but nothing showed up.

I have the solution to all you guys problems. There are two relays next to the ABS computer(next to airbox) One is mounted on the front drivers wheel well(apron) and the other is located next to the computer closer to the engine. They get wet/moisture and corrode and your abs light comes on. One realy controls the power to the computer the other to the abs motor.

BTW once the corrode both the connector and the relay very hard to clean. I can still wiggle mine around and make it loose connection. It doesn't loose connection under driving conditions though.

Thanks, I will try cleaning/re-connecting those, but since it's 12am here, lemme ask another question :) Why does it come on so..well..randomly? And what's with the "popping" sound that makes it go off?

There is a sensor ring at each wheel, which looks a bit like a bicycle sprocket. There is also a sensor at each wheel which is nothing more than a magnet. The purpose is to "read" the gaps of the rings as the wheel turns, and to determine if wheel lock-up is about to occur. Each time the vehicle is started, the ABS motor cycles briefly to test itself, and you can feel a "click" or "popping" in the brake pedal. The ABS will self-test again the first time the vehicle reaches approximately 20 MPH. If your ABS light comes on immediately after startup, the problem is in the controller or motor. If the light comes on after approximately 20 MPH, the problem is sensor or sensor ring related. Sometimes, the magnet will become crudded up with metallic filings, causing a light and loss of ABS. And if you are having issues only during wet weather or after washing, I'd say there is a bare wire at one of the wheel sensors. I've tried to make this explanation as simple as possible. Check your sensors, rings, and the wires at the sensors. They are most likely the cause of your ABS problems.
