Hey guys, I'm a recent convert into the Ford SHO kingdom, recently purchased a 2010 SHO and I love it. Looking into mods to hopefully take her into the 500hp range plus lowering options. I'm a Newbie here but not in the car forums, I'm graduating from transamcountry.com. I'm still into Trans Ams, but everything I now own is a Ford, 2010 Mustang GT, 2010 SHO, and a 2002 F-250, plus I have a 81 Z28 almost show ready, son blew up motor...LOL
Looking forward to getting some valuable help and guidance on the SHO. I'm in Chattanooga by the way if anyone on here is close, might be calling for help...LOL

Welcome, Jeff, congrats on your '10 SHO! I know we have several Gen I-III members in the TN/MS/MO area, and some Gen IV's as well. Put up some pics of all your rides :) what are you looking to do with your SHO?

As soon as I can get some pics i'll post em.
As far as mods for the SHO, new drop down exhaust, gonna keep the stock tailpipes, new CAI, thinking on doing a custom CAI, in the thinking stage right now, plus a good tune. What I really need to know is if there are any problems with the rest of the driveline that I need to be looking into beefing up and what to watch out for. and any suggestions are very welcome.

Welcome to the forum Jeff.

First thing I'd do is change/check the spark plugs. 10'-12' years, 4.1 gen SHO, came with less than adequate plugs. I'm using the Motorcraft Sp534's pre gapped at .030. The PTU fluid that Ford refers to as "lifetime" fluid, should be looked at if not changed every 30k also.
Tune, Methanol injection, downpipes, exaust, CAI are the bolt ons for power at this time. There is a new intercooler setup that just became available, no numbers yet on the gains though.

3 bar map sensor adds a layer of tuning and has shown gains of around a tenth to maybe .3 in the 1/4 mile. I personally feel the car likes the tunes with the 3 bar more.

160 or 170 tstat is recommended when tuning also to help keep the temps down.

For suspension we have Megan racing that offers a set of coilovers for us. It is listed as fitting the Flex on their site, these are the best option we have I think.
Then there's lowering springs; Eibach and H&R offer these.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank You Rich, I've already heard of the spark plug problems, the PTU fluid is a new one on me and I'm going to get on that ASAP. I appreciate the heads up and I'm going parts shopping when my wallet catches up to my gotta have list...LOL

No problem, that darn parts list seems to always be a few lengths out in front of the wallet...

If you experience any power loss problems, check a) knock sensor wiring for chafing, and b) turbo piping that may have come loose or split. In your longterm maintenance checks, scope out the intercooler for oil residue, there should be little to none if the PCV system is evacuating properly. If this IS an issue, you might want to switch out motor oil to a quality full synthetic oil such as Amsoil, Royal Purple, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, etc.
