Realizing that many here never go slow enough to notice. How many of you have noticed if traffic around you changes its behavior because you are driving a police car shaped vehicle?
Like cars closing a a fair rate on the freeway are suddenly matching your speed.
Drivers changing lanes and slowing down when you appear in their mirrors.
Things like that?
Sort of like the Crown Vic effect with it successor.

I have not had that effect. But most my driving is city driving. But when I go on really long drives to Anchorage the few that catch up to me usually pass me.

Depends on what highways I'm on here on Long Island. I recently saw a Nassau County unmarked police car - Black Taurus with the 18" alloy wheels - not steelies.

With my black (PP) grill, it definitely has an effect on other people. Certain other people. Some are so clueless I could have red flashing lights and they wouldn't notice. But some, yes. In Old Westbury village, the police cars are a mix of Taurus PI, and Explorer PI - in very very dark grey. So I definitely give some of the college students around there a chill.

I've seen some other black Taurus's, unmarked cop cars, even a dark brown SHO. I once saw a New York State trooper with the Taurus (police interceptor) with the typical trooper color and a push bar, full decals and lights. That was like 3 years ago - haven't seen one since. They tend to like the Dodges.

But yes, I've seen the police car effect. I once had a white Ford LTD station wagon that my mother bought at auction in upstate New York - it was the county coroner's car. I put a hopped-up 289 in it, and it was a blast. I noticed that when I'd come up on people in the left lane doing 80+ they immediately got over. This was back when all the cop cars were Ford LTD's - :)

I had that fairly often with my 2011 black SHO, rarely with my red 2016 SHO, but it does happen.

When I had my 2011, grey, I plastidipped the grill and wheels black, not my intention but it did look like a cop car. Had drivers flying on the highway coming up behind me, when I expected them to pass I noticed they where right beside me, looking extremely nervous. I since sold that car for a 2013 and no longer have this happen. It was humorous for a while.

I have had this happen quite a bit. I have a '13 in White Platinum Pearl Tri coat with 20% tint and black wheels. It happens more on the highway with vehicles coming up from behind. Once I come to a stop and they notice the 20" 10 spoke black wheels and not the 18" steelies, they're back to normal. Before I got my HID kit, this happened a bit more when I got behind people. Especially just after dawn or right before dusk with my rear sunshade up. My SHO was built in Canada and did not come with factory HID's (neither do PI's).

Last year when I still had my SHO, was driving on the interstate at night and had a car come hauling up behind me. They had to of recognize the tail lights of the Taurus and they slowed down as they approached and figured out I was not a cop. They took off again, easily 20+ over the limit. Sure enough, in the next half mile is a State Trooper in a Taurus sitting in the median running dark and nails the guy. I think I felt bad but I laughed pretty damn hard. Almost saved him what I assume to be a pretty hefty ticket.

Have some fun... wearing dark sunglasses, parked on the street begin pointing a dark colored hair dryer at approaching cars; bet they slow down.

They love to slow down, Drives when Crazy when a line forms behind me refusing to pass me, have cruise set for 77.
Real kick is when Natasha Goes for a Ride in town. Full German Rottweiler. I get a lot of Looks. Plate Frame reads I support K9 law enforcement.
I do get waved to when I am not looking at speed, and Officer is Sitting out in the highway clocking speeders.
I do get a lot of complements form Clients on the car, I deal with Sheriffs offices and Correctional Facilities for work in a 7 State region

It's funny I used to get waved at by LEO's when I first got my black 2011 SHO, lots of PD's had gotten them around here as unmarked cars, all black.
