All weather tire recommendations?

Although I'd like to stick with a performance summer tire, I'm now faced with a Colorado winter coming up about the same time I'm going to be needing a new set of tires.

I'm a bit overwhelmed right now with the tire options so I figured I'd ask people with some first hand experience. Price isn't much of an option, so is there a specific make/model that's highly recommended over another?

Also is there a certain seller that I should go thru for the best cost? (tirerack?)

The BF Goodrich KDWS have very high all weather rating. I personally have ran Dunlop SP Sport 4000 tires for the past 5 years but I don't think I'd recommend them as an all-year tire. They work great for me because I have Blizzaks on the factory wheels that I run in the winter.

dude the traction ta in 245 50 16 dlows away the kdws--- i had both+ they are quieter and look better. $420 mounted and balanced!

For the last two tire changes I have used Yokahama Avid tires. They are quite but grip well in the New England snow.

After reading around a bit, I think I'm planning on going with the Yokohama Avid's over the BFGoodrich Traction.

my mom and dad run GForce KDWS's on their 98 and 93, havent had much of a problem with MI winters..and they take to turns a lot better than the cruddy continental all seasons on my car...

well i had a problem with the KDWS's, the tread is seperating, and they are garbage in the winter, they suck! im still debating between the yoko AVID 4s and the traction T/As

good tire check it out does flawless in a downpour really heavy rain the the other night no hydroplaning on the highway, you might want to look into them

I had Kuhmo HP4 716's...They worked well in every weather...Didn't look too bad either.

After reading around a bit, I think I'm planning on going with the Yokohama Avid's over the BFGoodrich Traction.

I had AVID ST's on my crown vic, nice wear, good traction for a rwd in MI winters, and a great price on tire rack.

Im a big bang for the buck kinda guy, so the price for what you got was good.

I have also recently put Sumitomo SRIXN's on the SHO. Tirerack again and I push them hard. bought em for good all season and wear rating. So far so good, and at 200 shipped to my door, I was not worried about the occasional burnout.

I didnt think they were garbage in the winter, my mom ran them on her 98 for a few winters...but one of them did shred it's inner sidewall into pieces. (on my dads 93) Turns out it was rubbing on the mud guard for the front strut...my dad got a little...wider than stock tires, so thats probably why.

Now that i think about it...my mom doesnt use the KDWS's on the front of her car anymore...Maybe one of those shredded too...

I have the Hankook Ventus on mine and have good wet weather traction with them. Can't somment about the snow but I paid $76 m&b each for mine.

ive seen pics of a gen 3 with the slicers
ive thought about getting slicers for winter
and a buddy of mine said blizzaks are some good winter tires so i think that would be a good setup

I bought a set of Continental Extreme Contacts for my '89 from Discount Tire and I must say they are the quietest and nicest tires I've ever had on it. Handling is exceptional and they do real well in the rain as they are all weather high performance. For $88.00 a piece for size 215/55/VR16, they are a good buy also. Even if you don't go with them, at least consider buying from Discount Tire if you instend to buy over the net because they offer FREE SHIPPING.
