Hey, I'm new to the forum (posting, not reading) and I was wondering where I might find all clear tails for a gen II. I am heavily interested and if there is a group buy I don't know about, I'm definitely down for it. I already have the decals covering the amber reflectors on the front, but I must have all clear tails, it would make my sho the most unique on the road. I would like either the diffused lenses in clear or possibly like a transparent lexan style lens with Red LED bulbs behind them. I think this would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any input.

The lenses would need to be molded. There`s not a chance anyone could to a home job without it looking rediculous(although even perfect clear tails look rediculous IMO).To do something like that, you`d need not a glass shop, but a plastics company. You could never get them to do a run of even just 100,the tooling costs and profit wouldn`t justify the run.

Actually I was thinking about going for the whole touring car look. Looks kinda spiffy :p . Just kidding though. I did see one pic of clear tails but it must have been done in photoshop cause they looked so real. Anyways, thanks for the responses, except the smarta$$ one. I'll be looking for advice here more often.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! headbang
Don't do it.
Doesn't the sleeper aspect of the car make it more apealing?

Isn't that what attracted you to the car?

Ah **** its your car jpshakeh

You know, it is kinda nice that the cops don't come running after me at the races, but I really don't like stock lights on most cars. I think that by changing those (except the altezzas, I don't much like them at all except maybe on a Toyota Altezza) it can really accent the car. I had to get rid of the amber on the front with the decals, but now I have found some real clear corners which I will be purchasing very soon. You guys may think that I want rice, but that's the farthest from what I want, and no, the sleeper aspect is not what attracted me the most, it's the fact that I wanted a four door sedan which could still beat Mustang GTs at the races. I love my car (when it works) and I only want it to look as good as it can. The other thing is that I don't want any type of body kit, I just want a lighting system that sets it apart from the rest of the taurii on the road.

Now that that's out of the way, I have one more idea I'd like some feedback on. What if I contacted a Headlight/Taillight company such as TYC who already makes aftermarket red lenses and see if they will make them with clear plastic instead of red, is that a possiblity, or am I still way out of a reasonable price range. Thanks.

I don't want rice, I just want a ride that looks as good as it performs.

I've never done any research on this, but there are a few things you might want to mention if you plead your case to an aftermarket company.

#1, there are over 4500 enthusiasts just signed up for this website, and this only covers SHOs.

#2, The taillights are the same for the SLO and the SHO, (at least for the GenIIs, never looked close enough to the other Gens), so it's not like they'd be designing them to be used strictly for the SHOs.

#3, The Taurus for several years was the most popular car in the US, so there are thousands upon thousands of potential buyers out there.

Just something to keep in mind... I never personally understood why no one has touched the Taurus lights. shrug

And I agree with you, if I had some taillight options, I'd probably make a change just so I have no other exterior color on my car besides silver (body), and black (windows, mirrors, and tires.)

Thanks MO-KAN SHO,
That's been the best response I've received so far on this topic. I'm glad that someone else might be interested in this idea. I'll will continue researching and post any updates if I find them. The fact is, it's something else to mod, just like all those interior mods that we all have. Just think, red LED taillight bulbs with translucent painted covers, or something to that effect. It's got potential and I think that among the 4500 users on this board that there are enough on here that would agree with me. Thanks again for the response.

I was gonna make a set of my own..... You can do the same
You buy a set of clears fo an integra 91,92,93 then you get a new set of SHO tail lights and GTX clear covers cut out the red lenses use the internals of the integra clears on the hacked up tail lights and modify the GTX clear lenses and you got clear tail lights for your SHO.

As I have not done this yet ( my tranny broke so doing that first ) but will soon you can e-mail me and I will get back to you on when I will get started and the instructions on how I will make them. [email protected]

I see what you are saying, but clear tails arent the mark of a "ricer." Speaking of which, what is the definition of a rice burner? Is our 3 litre Yamaha engine that far from other high performance japanese 6 cylinders? Obviously you are talking about the weirdos in civics and accords that put on *** spoilers and stickers and god knows what else, but I'm just saying. Clear taillights tho, in my opinion, arent the thing that makes a decent looking honda turn to a riced-out honda. I think they can look clean in certain applications. They arent necessary, but in some cases, they add some aesthetic properties to a car, while possibly maintaining the Sleeper profile. Just my opinion tho..

i agree with what youre saying and will add that "rice" is more often an attitude than a look. besides wouldnt RISHOs first SHO have been rice then since it had dual fart cans on the back? no it wasnt. as much as i didnt like the sound of his exhaust i didnt think it made his SHO into rice. just a thought.

LOL.. what do you guys consider all the new Maximas and Altimas and all the other Nissans that come with clear tails? Rice is the combination of: wing/can/stickers/*** shit and the driver that drives his car like its a 10 second machine BECAUSE of his "wing" and "ground effects" etc. Maybe once you see what a SHO with clear tails looks like you won think it to be rice? Have you ever seen one?

would you rather see clear tails or see these:

This is just my opinion but I am gonna wait and see what they would look like before I say its rice.

Thanks
Jason
