I have a 93 SHO (Atx)
I've had it 7 years and every year it needs new tires. Every time I take it to the Firestone they tell me it is out of the alignment or find something else wrong with it, but I do the alignment at Ford Dealership every 5,000 miles. Struts and tie rod ends have been replaced few times.First they were telling me car has been wrecked so it is out of the alignment, but NO, it's never been wrecked. Today they told me reason tires are worn uneven because it does not have right size of tires..I've got 225/55/16..Tires that I have on right now are not even 30,000 miles. Set before those were about 5,000 miles. Is anyone else having this problem???:oogle:

Take it somewhere else to get tires, I worked at hotrocks a long time ago, and IT'S THERE JOB to sell, so why would you expect anything less than your car needing to be aligned or needing front end parts, or needing brakes("we were looking at your brakes WHILE your tires were off and we noticed.........."). If you don't want to be sold stuff, simply TELL them, or take it elsewhere. And IMO 5,000 miles is a little excessive for an alignment, thats like every 4 months. I have mine checked like every six to eight months.

That sucks, I know how hard it is to find a good place to go. Is there another firestone you can go to? Maybe that way you can at least confirm what the other one says. Then again, most places will do a front end parts check for free, so anyone could tell you if the parts are good or not. Then take it back to them and ask why/how they feel the parts are bad. That'll put them on the spot. The only other thing I can say is like I did before, if the tech don't recommend stuff he won't make any money, so expect it. Good luck!!!!

Of course they do. Another way to take advantage.

Well I would say, by the sound of it, you might be blonde, and fairly cute. :) Because I used to be ******* my tires, and even when I bought a cheap set, they lasted longer than that, and I almost never checked my alignment. I would say just for kicks, have some guy friend of yous try to take it there and see what they tell him.

A Ford dealer that is always great with me, boned my mother pretty hard. Granted she's a blonde, and she acts the part of an ignorant woman pretty well... (no offence.. :) ) Anyway she went because her transmission was acting up. I'm not sure who it was that did it, and they wouldn't tell me for sure who the tech was, but he replaced, the radiator, thermostat, balanced her tires, changed her oil, checked her alignment, and a few other stupid things. NEVER did they check the tranny, or change the fluid, or the filter, at a cheap attempt to fix the problem.

She pickeed it up, and got a block away before she realized what they didn't fix. She blindly took it back, and they gave her some other excuse, and she called me for a ride. I went in there, picked her up, and it took me about 2 seconds after she said, 'radiator', I went back inside with the bill.

In the end, they apoligized a few times, and actually fixed the tranny for free.. well after spending what she spent earlier, it wasn't really free, but in the end she got a pretty good deal. Money is hard to come by, and a lot of people will lie to get your money. ****, I remember asking a dealer about an engine swap years ago, and they wanted almost $4,000 dollars, to put a junkyard motor in ... I felt like slapping him.. lol

Yes I am a blonde :D, but I do know about cars more than some mechanics do.. I work at a Ford dealership and my car has been taken care of really good. I've got 3 mechanics that take care of it..So I know it is not the car problem. I own 3 cars and every time I take it to them something is wrong with the cars and nothing is wrong with tires.

What do the techs where you work say about the alignment and "other issues" ?

SHOs are a bit touchy about alignment, "factory specs" aren't good enough. Do you have a copy of the most recent alignment specs to post?

And of course, I have to ask,,,,do you drive like a blonde? That alone may account for most of your tire wear.

Yes I do have recent alignment specs..Everything looks good. All 3 of my mechanics looked at the car and they've been taking care of that car since I started working at ford (3 years)..They don't see any problems.

And No, I never tried to spin the tires and burn them or whatever because those tires were $1000..So I didn't feel like waisting that much money

somebody is takin you for a ride where in kentucky do you live? My mom lives about an hour from Paducah so kentucky is not a far ride. I would give you a hand if you would like it.

Maybe you can get a tech to go with you and ask those bastards at the firestone what exactly is wrong and make them show him **** make them show you. That is rediculous. Even if Shos are picky about alignment there is no reason for the tires to wear so much.

How many miles are on your tires right now?

The tires that wear out fast, are they wearing evenly? If not...how are the wearing?

Can you post those specs? There are a few good chassis techs here that may comment on the numbers.
What wheels do you have? Size please. What brand and model of tires?
