Air pedal (thats what I call it) Sensitivity

Is it just me? My 89 SHO's accelerator pedal is extremely sensitive. I mean, I've driven my best friends SHO, a 90, and his pedal is hard as heck. We drove his car from NY to Florida in 13 hours. I drove from 2 in the morning till 6 AM and by 3 am I had a cramp in my leg from how stiff his pedal is. In my car, the pedal is nice and light, but half way down is litteraly like WOT. I love how light it is, but is it just me?




Maybe I'm just nuts and should stop caring about it?

Check the spring on the throttle cable. It very well could of been modified by the previous owner. I know of a few people who do it. The stock pedal is fairly hard to push down.

My throttle spring is modified too and I love it.

Like I said, dont get me wrong, I love how springy and light the pedal is, but I guess its not just me. You modified the spring? How? That way, I can tell my friend. (He cant sign up to shoforum as he only has a hotmail account and I know that is frowned upon. ) Also, I've had my SHO longer than him so I'm his answer vault for everything in and about his car.

Your throttle cable is ok. Your friend's throttle cable needs replacing.

Yea... What is this modified throttle spring you speak of? Sounds like something worth looking into. I hate how stiff the pedal feels in my SHO... But i love ow soft the pedal feels in my 98 GT.

Cut the spring on the throttle a tiny bit shorter.. not too short though. Made a big difference in my 90.

My gas pedal is pretty light, so maybe it was done to mine already? I don't think I've ever driven a Taurus with a heavy gas pedal.
