WARNING: First disable the air bag before doing ANY work or diagnostics on the system. Disconnect the battery negative cable and waite at least 20 minutes. Then disconnect the back-up power supply that is behind the glove box and to the right.

Disconnect the drivers side crash sensor, clean the connections, and do the following tests;

The resistance for the front sensors should be between 1000 and 1300 ohms.

The right and left sensors are checked with the pin that the pink/orange stripe wire goes to, and body ground. The center sensor is the pink/white wire pin and ground.

If the resistance is more or less than specified replace the sensor. You can get a sensor from a parts car or a salvage yard, but test it before you install it. The mounting bolt (screw) is the sensor ground. Make sure this is clean and making good contact.

The crash sensors are behind the front bumper and are a bear to get at. The service manual recommends removing the bumper to get at it. Reread the warning above. The air bag is VERY dangerous, but if done right can be worked on safely. If you are not sure, DON'T. rangerj

It was giving me a code before that said the driver side crash sensor was bad. So I replaced the sensor under the radiator cover and that fixed the problem for about a month. Is another sensor bad?
thx

Clean the connections on the other two sensors, including the screw that hold them to the body (ground). Test them with an ohm meter. If you do not get the resistance as specified replace the sensor. Be sure to disarm the air bag before working on the system rangerj
