Well.. I'm not sure which SHO u are installing this in, but since you are mentioning the ford removal tools, I am guessing your Gen 2.
First of all, standard din means exactly that. Your pulling out a standard din radio and installing a different standard din. With this in mind, the radio will fit nicely, its just going to have a metal sleeve around the radio, a "cage" is the terminology. You'll slide the cage in the hole and bend little tabs around the cage so it grips the dashboard around the cage. SUPER simple.
YES, you have a JBL system in your car. NO, the plugs will NOT magically match-up. THey never have, would, or do. Sorry bro. Bear in mind, that you MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT did I say MIGHT loose a little sound quality. Never a way to be truely sure, but with a cheaper CD Player going into a JBL equipped car, I'd say there is a good chance that you will loose a little quality. Will you notice it?? Maybe.
This is a relatively easy car to install a stereo in with only minimal effort. I personally can put a stereo into this car with an amplifier bypass in under 15 minutes, but I am a professional and I do it every day. You could do this in approximately an hour give or take.
You will probably have to go to a local stereo shop or a best buy and get a "Ford Premium Sound Wiring Harness". I doubt your Wal-mart has one but I could be wrong. This should also come with a short almost adaptor looking cable about 10 inches long or so with eight wires connecting two plugs. THis is simply an amplifier bypass plug, but don't panic, all you do with it is pop the trunk and on the back seat in the trunk is your factory amp. Just unplug the two plugs from the amp and plug that connector in accordingly (It'll only plug in each end one way) and you just bypassed the amp in your car! Installers Note: You can also take that connector, cut it in half and plug it into the output plug (Usually lefthand side of amp) and you have all your speaker wires ran to the doors and rear deck so you can interface an aftermarket amp without running wires to the doors and rear deck! wink
Degree of difficulty (1 - 10) 1 or 2
All the wires are color-coded for easy connections, and hey, you got SHOForum.com wink
Tools required for this project:
