Alright, I know it sounds ricey and that's probably how it's going to end up going but I do have an excuse. I've only managed to find one aftermarket automatic shift **** with an overdrive button, does anyone know of any others? The reason I'm asking is I'm tired of reaching down to put the car in "R" on a sunny days (which are most days down here) to back out and getting a handful of black goo that keeps leaking out from between the stitches. You'd think it all would've ran out by now but it just keeps coming. While I'm at it, anyone else had this problem with their stock shift ****?

This would be the **** I found by the way: Pilot Motorsports Shiny Rice **** While it isn't that bad for a ricer shift **** I'd like to find something a little more.. normal?

Edit: Found another: http://www.fizzautosports.com/images/accessories/shiftknob/shiftknob_lv451e_B.jpg It's slightly better, a step in the right direction anyways.

Why don't you just grab another good stock ****? I'm sure someone has one in their pile of spare parts they would sell ya for pretty cheap.

In the 6 years I've had my '93 in Sunny Southern California I've never once had black goo seep out of the shift ****.

There are two ATXs at the jy near me. If you're interested I could grab you a handle next time I'm there.

Depends on how much it'll end up being. That and I haven't a clue how to get one off without breaking it, let alone putting a stock one back on.

It's not that bad. The hardest part is removing the C-clip on the shifter. I used a set of picks and it worked well. Once that's out, you remove the cupholder insert and undo the one torx screw at the bottom. Then, you just kinda yank the top of the center console out. It's held in with friction clips. I would recommend putting the shifter in "1" to allow more room. Then, you undo the connector that goes to the O/D button (yank on the shifter a little to locate the wire, it's small!), undo the clips that hold the wire onto the shifter assembly, and gently lift up, making sure the wires don't catch onto anything. Installation is largely the reverse of removal.

Never had goo come out either. Car is a 95, and is regularly in the sun. I do, however, like that 2nd shifter ****.

Hey, that looks familiar!

Edit: we bought a big pack of rubber grommets and found one that filled up the hole where the shifter goes into the console, and another one to locate the bottom of the shifter so it doesn't wiggle around at the bottom.
