I know this has been talked about a million times on this forum but i have a question.

I have a 94 MTX. I want to try the Moog springs and lower the car. I have read that Cutting 1.5 coils front and 1 coil rear will give me a 1" lower ride. What if I want to go lower. Can i cut 2 off front and 1.5 off rear or are there not enough dead coils. Has anyone done this before? If so, how much did it lower the car and did you use stock struts?
I am ready to do this mod as soon as spring is here so i dont freeze, i figure with the money i save i can do swaybars and SFC's.
Thanks for the help, pics would be cool too.

Good info, Has anyone ever cut more than 1.5 and 1 coils off a GEN2 MTX? What was the drop? I was also thinking about dropping the strut in the knuckle to gain just that little bit more.

The MOOGS have a certain number of "dead" coils that allow for an easy drop without sacrificing ride quality. IIRC, the fronts have 2 "dead" coils. I cannot recall how many the rears have.

Important thing is that once you start cutting beyond the "dead" coils, you will severely effect ride quality. It will get increasingly stiff and rigid. I have heard that the spring rates of the MOOGS are even stiffer than Eibachs to start with. Id never want them any stiffer, and I have doubts about finding struts that could handle them.

Also, there is VERY little to be gained by dropping the strut in the knuckle. As in, less than 3/8 of an inch. Go too far, and the strut detroys the CV joint and the tire hits the spring perch.
