adjustment on rear outside door handles?

I broke a drivers side rear door handle. So I replaced it and took apart the inside. Is there any way to adjust it? You have to pull up all they way and give it a tad **** up to get it to unlatch. Is it just possible that its really wore out?

Maybe the rod that connects the handle to the latch got bent slightly shrug

On the Gen 1's there is no rod that attaches the outside door handle to the latch mechanism. It pushes down on a plate and then it unlatches it.
